Club Scrap Team Challenge

Hello everyone!
I hope you came from the Club Scrap blog and enjoyed what Karen did!
today I would like to share a layout I did using the Club Scrap Color Me Happy Kit for the team challenge this month which was to to create a project that features batik or faux batik techniques. I had never tried this before so it was really was a challenge for me! There are a number of tutorials available, but I used our own team member, Roni's tutorial here to get me started.

First here is the kit from Club Scrap - yummy!

And here is my layout of my adorable granddaughter! "The Choose to Shine" cutout at the bottom has pop tabs underneath to give some depth. I also sprayed the plain green paper with Tim Holtz Distress Spray.

So instead of ink I used Gelato's, and I used Thick Embossing Powder which made the outline of the Dragonfly thicker. I used 3 colors Gelatos, and using them like a crayon I randomly colored over the embossed dragonfly. I spritzed water over the paper and using my finger blended the colors together.
Since did this on white paper, I cut out the dragonfly because I wanted my layout to have the green background.

The key and the feather below I used the Club Scrap Color Me Happy Silver Paint Pen. I was amazed at how fast and what great coverage it gave me in a matter of seconds! The picture of the key is showing half done just for comparison of the gold and silver. Sorry about the picture, it was late at night. I also used the pen for the journaling.

Here is the feather which was also gold. Looks like I have to touch up the right side a little, I must had put my finger on it when it was still drying. I didn't realize that until just now!

Thanks for stopping by, your next stop is the talented Lisa!

Great layout! Your dragonfly turned out beautifully...the UTEE added a nice distressed look. Ooh, and thanks for the tip on the silve pen...great to know it can alter the color of various items!

I love how your dragonfly came out. The extra thick embossing power was a great choice!
