Altering Chipboard with Powderpuff inks

Hi, Donna here today with a layout I did for my Hometown Landmarks album I have been working on for the past couple of months. Here is Berks County, PA there is a lot of history and this Pagoda was built back in 1906 atop of Mt. Penn in Reading (pronounced redding).

Now onto the altered chipboard! I took two different approaches. For the frame I covered it with Gesso and used the material to help give it some texture.

After it dried I added some Sunset Powderpuff ink, doesn't have to be uniform, actually better if not.

Dab some Mocha Mama ink.

And finally added sparsely some Midnight Confessions ink.

The finished project, I loved how it turned out!

For the swirl piece of chipboard, I simply added some Green Tea ink. Then took heavy embossing powder and heated it up, be careful not to torch the chipboard, mine started smoking (yikes!). My embossing ink pad is starting to dry out and I was going to put a second coat on to even it out, but I kind of like this look!

Best Mom

Here is a layout I did inspired by Mothers Day. The best mom I know is the mother of my grandchildren, my daughter! She has so much energy, and is such a good person, what better way to celebrate Mother's Day!

Designer Tip: If you don't have room for a title overlap your title like I did here. The center word "best" was cut from the yellow paper but thinking it blended too much with the background so I added Powderpuff inks, a blend of Sunset and Mocha Mama to match the layout.

A really beautiful quote from the velumn pack.

Cutest little Pumpkin in the Patch

Hi everyone, Donna Coughlin here with a layout I did using all three NEW lines from Quick Quotes, "Alton", "Antique Garden" and "Joy Ride"! I have so many die cut patterns for Halloween and the paper worked out wonderfully for this layout. I was going to put the title in the upper right hand corner, but decided to curve it around the picture instead. I also offset the words in black to make them pop a little more. Some of the pieces I used Quick Quotes Powderpuff ink - Coal Miner to ink the edges.

As you can see I used this wonderful Velumn quote, again grabbing my inks ( I used Mango Mai Tai and Lemonade) and blotted the edges to help soften the look.

Quick Quotes and Xyron Blog Hop

Hi everyone,  Quick Quotes and Xyron have teamed up to have this blog hop, hope you all had a great time checking out the design teams creations. I made this layout using Quick Quotes Club Q kit and my favorite adhesives from Xyron.

I had some flowers left over from Club Q but I cut more out. To get this affect I dabbed ink on them first using the Powderpuff Inks, the new Caribbean Blue and Very Berry. Then mist the flowers with water, the causes the inks blend together. Next you crumble up the flowers into a little ball, sounds crazy, but once you open them up it gives them a really neat look. Then just layer more flowers on top, as many or little as you want. Just add a brad or some bling in the middle and your all set.

My four favorite and go to adhesives are 1. The Xyron Mega Runner, which I use all the time on pictures. 2. The Xyron Glue stick is great for paper,  3. I use Xyron tape runner for pictures and ribbon. 4.Finally the new Xyron X sticker maker. Let me tell you about the Xyron X sticker maker shown below. The re-designed shape works wonders. You can now get those little pieces into the sticker maker so much easier, also it seems wider, is this my imagination? But also because of the new design there is less waste after you pull you paper through. Totally lovin' this new design. There is also a bigger sticker maker that I use for large die cuts.

Travel Mini Album

Hi everyone, Donna here today I am excited to share with you a new line from Quick Quotes called Baggage Claim. With thoughts of vacation on my mind, I made a  mini album, which I will share with you next time, but I wanted to show you this cute little suitcase that will hold  the mini album. Isn't this line fabulous! I just love this line but what else is exciting is the new 12 pack of Powderpuff Inks with all new colors, and they match this new line perfectly!

The handle is from an old purse which I cut down to fit this project and used super glue to hold it securely. I found some other embellishments in my stash that I added to the front.

The film strip, ticket and stamp are all from the Baggage Claim chipboard and sticker packs.

My mini album will have lots of pockets so I added some extra places inside the suitcase, like the pocket on the cover to put in tickets, maps, passport, whatever. And there is also a panel underneath. Just pull the ribbon tab up.

Under the secret panel, is another place to store papers or a mini log.

Inside is a travelogue to put underneath.

Place to keep notes or add some more pictures.

Here is a sneak peek of the mini album I will share with you next time!

Products Used on this projects:
Quick Quotes Baggage Claim papers
Quick Quotes Baggage Claim Chipboard
Quick Quotes Baggage Claim Stickers

Silly & Sweet

Hello everyone,
I received a Silhoutte Cameo for Christmas and I am lovin' it! One of my first projects with it was this layout that I used to cut out all the shapes including the background divider sheet (see photo below) with Quick Quotes paper. If you would like a copy of this cutting file for your Silhoutte please send me an email at dscog@verizon.net and put Free Frame File in the topic, so I don't think it is Spam,  or leave your email in the comment section below. to see how you can get this free from me. It also includes the arrows, the heart arrow, and another border that I did use on this.

After I cut all my pieces I started embellishing the diagonals, using the arrows, lace, and ric rac. The quote from the Quick Quotes Bundles pack was a perfect addition!

Funny where inspiration comes from

Hi Donna here with a layout I did with the October Club Q kit. It is funny when and where inspiration strikes for a layout. As usual when I get the kits I pull it all apart and look at the pieces. I saw this tiny little acorn and that was it, and being in Disney mode for scrapping, Kaboom - I knew exactly what I was going to do. What inspired you to do your last layout ?

I loved the piece from the Page Layout Option A kit with all the blocking (first page of the double page layout) and I knew that would be great for my pics, but the word Autumn wouldn't work. But the  I saw the journaling piece from the 2nd page of the kit, cut that out and it fit perfectly into that space where the word Autumn was. To help make the photos stand out I took the borders from the kit and added them to top and bottom, also a perfect fit! The red plastic ring also fit as did the scalloped circle at the top. The colors in these kits are not only great and modern for Autumn layouts, but you can use them for just about anything!

Here is a closeup of the flower cluster. I added a little bit of Java Powderpuff ink around the leaves from the Altered kit to help them stand out a little. When I had them there without the ink they kind of got lost and didn't really look like much of anything. And a little bling is always good!

Bling it!

Hi everyone, Donna here to show you how to recycle and reuse in scrapbooking. If your like me, I get a ton of greeting cards, and it seems more and more they have embellishments on. I guess my family knows how much I love scrapbooking, so it seems to me they deliberately give me a card with some kind of embellishment on that I can repurpose to my layouts. Here are an example of a card I received recently. Instead of just tossing the card out, I took off the embellishment and ribbon and repurposed it on my layout below. I  also did this for a challenge over at Bird is the Word blog

The ribbons I cut in half and put it down from my rosette and the hanging part with the sequin, I attached it to the rosette added another embellishment to cover the plastic ring and topped it off with bling from Want2Scrap.

Mixing it up with Quick Quotes

Todays project is all about mixing up different lines of paper. This is great if you have pieces from different lines and with Quick Quotes it is so easy to do. My original intent was to do a heritage page with Cracklin Rose and Cherry Truffle, but when I came to Quick Quotes line called Pattern Paper and Be Bold, I completely changed my thinking and went with a school theme layout, and this is what I came up with.

Quick Quotes and Want2Scrap - perfect together!

Quick Quotes and Want2Scrap (my favorite bling!) have teamed up this month, and right now we are having a blog hop. My project this month is this awesome mini album from Want2Scrap. The thing I love about the bling from Want2Scrap is how easy it is to work with. Some large bling when you peel it off, seems to twist and stick together, and with Want2Scrap it just is so easy to work with. I never seem to have a problem and if you need to lift it and reposition it, never a problem if you are careful. So this is cover of my mini album. Quick Quotes Cracklin Rose is so pretty and works out great for a romantic mini album!

In my mini albums I like to add little tags and embellishment on the rings On this page I made two tags using Quick Quotes stickers and the other chipboard heart I covered with some paper.

Another thing I like to do is add envelopes  or additional space to add pictures and such, on this page has a door that you can open.

This page I think is my favorite. I am a hoarder of little metal charms and embellishments. Mini albums are a great way for me to use some them up.
Be sure to stop by Quick Quotes and Want2Scrap to see all the wonderful products!

July Quick Quotes Club Q kit

Today I like to show you a canvas I made with Quick Quotes Club Q Altered July kits. These kits are so packed with fun laser cut die-cuts that the possibilities for these kits are endless. There are instructions but if your like me I like to toss them aside, pull everything out of the kits and see what I can create with it, and this is what I came up with. I decided to tear some paper and layer it. I also inked the edges of the frame with Quick Quotes Mocha Mama Powderpuff Ink. Finally before putting a layer of ModPodge on I added some word definitions from an old dictionary, if you look closely they say love, music, harmony, also brushing them with a wash of diluted paint. For the birdcage I put a thin layer of gesso  and then coated it with a thin layer of gold. I used the reverse side of the canvas so I could leave a hole in which I bent the bird slightly to fit the hole I left behind. For the bird I used Quick Quotes Red hot Powderpuff ink and added some gold highlights.

Before applying Modpodge, the edges where I ripped were white and I wanted them to look more vintage. So what I did was dip a paintbrush into brown paint, and then swoosh my brush around in a little bit of water to give me a wash, I then proceeded to put a layer of watered down paint all over the paper and I love how it created this effect on the edges.

Life is a Journey

Happy fourth, I hope you all get to do something fun today. Today I made this layout of our recent trip to California. We made a stop at Treasure Island Beach and it is beautiful there. Last week Rhonda used the Stowaway line for a winter layout and this week, just to show you how versatile this line is, I am using it for a summer layout. I started out by inking up all the edges with the Quick Quotes Powderpuff Java Ink.

I wanted to show you something I did with this sheet of paper, I liked the quote "Explore New Places" but I new when I put the other sheet of paper on top it would cover it up, so I cut out enough of the tag leaving room to slide the tag over the middle sheet. Then I took another strip of paper and placed it underneath to cover up the cut. As you can see above it worked out great!

Below is a cluster, and I took a velumn quote from the Quick Quote Bundle and placed it on a tag and slipped the tag into a frame. On the back of the tag I have my journaling.

Happy April Fools Day!

Hello everyone, can you believe it is the first day of April already? Time for me to think of a joke to pull on my husband. Usually I do something like tell him I have a flat tire (after I just got new tires) but this year I have to come up with something really good. I would love to hear your favorite April Fool joke.
This month at Quick Quotes the Design Team is featuring the 6X6 paper pads along with Kiwi Lane Designs. I just love all the new 6x6 paper pads. You get all the pattern in the line, plus bonus journaling spots and some quotes. The great thing about the patterns in the 6x6 pads are they are perfect for making banners or other small items for your pages or cards without the pattern being overwhelming.

Items used:
Quick Quotes Stowaway Chipboard Die Cuts
Quick Quotes Stowaway 6x6 Paper Pad
Quick Quotes Stowaway SW 200
Quick Quotes Powderpuff Ink Mocha Mama
Quick Quotes Powderpuff Ink Baja Blue
Quick Quotes Powderpuff Ink Coconut
Kiwi Lane Designs Template - Mini border
Kiwi Lane Designs Template - Photo Mat
Misc gems, bling, flowers buttons, divine twine

I wanted to show you how I used the Kiwi Lane Photo Mat template when designing my layout. These templates are great to use. Also the nice thing about the templates are you can see through them and can move the border to see which part of the paper you would like to use before cutting the actual paper. The Quick Quotes 6X6 paper pads are perfect for making hexagons and banners!

I wanted to show you a close up of how great the Powderpuff Inks are. I am one of the biggest fans of these inks, I use them all time. This chipboard dragonfly was kraft colored, so I first inked in all in the Coconut color, dabbed on some Baja Blue and then took Mocha Mama and gently tapped the top of the chipboard so the raised embossing part would pick up the brown.

Cracklin Rose

Hello everyone, can you believe it is almost April? I am so ready for the sunny day!
Today I made this heritage page using the great new line from Quick Quotes called Cracklin Rose.
I also used the Kiwi Lane mini Paisley Place Templates to create the wavy border. These templates are so much fun to work with.

I love the Quick Quotes Powderpuff Inks and there are new colors in the store! On this layout I used the new Java ink distressing all the edges. Using a clock template I used the ink in the upper left hand corner, it's a lot easier than digging out paint, no mess and it looks great too! A distresser worked great with Velumn, just be careful not to rub too hard or it will rip, and the Powderpuff inks are perfect to give those edges the distress look you want.  Quick Quotes Family Bundles have lots of different quotes to use on your hertiage layouts.
On this layout I used:
Cracklin' Rose 100
Cracklin' Rose 200
Cracklin' Rose 300
Cracklin' Rose 6X6 Paper Pad
Quick Quotes Family Bundle
Cracklin' Rose Sticker Embellishments
Quick Quotes Powderpuff inks NEW Java and Marachino Cherry

Happy St Patricks Day

Top of the morning to all! Today I made this layout using the new Quick Quotes Stowaway Line. It was so much fun to work with and using the new Kiwi Lane Design Templates really helped me along in the design on my layout. I used the Mini Paisley Place templates to create the wavy borders and for placement of the pictures when designing my layout I used the 3x5 template found in the Photo Set. Check out Kiwi Lane, they have all sorts of awesome templates that can be used in so many ways, not just layouts. I added a four leaf clover metal to this layout not only because it is St Patty's Day, but both of these cousins are half Irish! They are a couple of handsome boys, if I do say so myself.

Here is the final layout, below I have a couple of tips I hope will be useful to you. I used bubble wrap and Quick Quotes ink. The Quick Quotes ink work great with bubble wrap and a lot easier than how I use to do it with paint. First I used the Quick Quotes Coconut ink but I really couldn't see it on the paper, so I added  Java Ink on top and it  brought out the white.

I also used Quick Quotes Java ink to distress my edges of all the pieces. To distress the flags I found a good way to get into those corners is to bend the flag in half slightly and rub your Quick Quotes ink on the edges to distress them .

Here are the items I used on this layout.
Quick Quotes Stowaway - SW300 Quick Quotes 6x6 Paper pack Stowaway Quick Quotes Summer Breeze BZ700 Quick Quotes Powderpuff Ink - Java
Quick Quotes Powderpuff Ink - Coconut
Quick Quotes Powderpuff Ink - Biscotti
Kiwi Lane Designs - Photo Set Templates
Kiwi Lane Designs -  Mini Paisley Place Templates

I also used misc charms, brads, button and fibers to embellish.

Thank you

Easy Peasy Quick Quotes layout

Hi everyone, Donna here, and I just wanted to share with you this layout I made using kits from Quick Quotes. It took me a little over an hour to make this layout. All the shapes are precut from the kit, all you have to do is decide where to place them!  Here is what I used on this layout:

Quick Quotes Premier page kit and Quick Quotes January Altered Kit
Quick Quotes Mango Mai Tai Powderpuff ink
Quick Quotes Limeade  Powderpuff ink
Queen & Co Pearls
Twine
