Club Scrap May Blog Hop

Hello and welcome to the Club Scrap's May Blog Hop featuring the really awesome kit Creative License. You should have come here from the very talented Lisa's blog! Here is this awesome kit!

Today I did something other than a layout! I made this box for my son's desk. He has pencils, erasers and tons of other stuff all over and I thought this would help him get organized. But once I gave it to him he had another use for the box. He decided to put his Wii games in it and it was a perfect fit for them! Plus the CD envelopes are great holding game Cd's that he lost the boxes for (Or - temporarily misplaced, as he would say!)

First I took 2 CD envelopes (lesson learned: paint all edges first, I didn't do this and I had to go back and fill in later, good thing this project was grunge looking so any mis-painting fits in!) Cut a 5 1/8 square from corrugated cardboard, I used the box from my Club Scrap kit.

Next I took clear tape from the makers of Duck Tape and taped the envelopes together. The flaps go on the outside of the box. Before taping the box together cut out 2 sheets of cardstock to line the inside of your box. The measurements are 5 x 10 1/2. Score the paper at 5 inches and 5 1/4. This will fit nicely into the corner of the envelope. I then taped the corrugated cardboard square to the bottom, and covered that in gray cardstock as well.

Then decorate with the papers from the Club Scrap Embellishment Kit. I also cut gears from the Silhouette using the gray cardstock in the kit and distressed them with black and white paint and some green mist I made from paint.

The key and speed limit sign I found in my chipboard stash, and painted that as well.

I took a strip of paper to finish off the top of the inside.

I absolutely LOVE this repurpose of the CD folders! I know a couple of (ahem!) boys who could use some organizational help as well. Time to shop for more folders and copy this idea!

Wow! What a great way to think "inside" the box! I love what you've done with these cd folders! The little slits on the outside are perfect.
