June Club Q

Hi, today I would like to show you a layout I created with the new Club Q from Quick Quotes.
Look at all you get in the Ultimate kit!

Here is a layout I created using items from each of the kits. The laser cut chipboard and papers are fabulous! I especially loved the round globe with the saying What a Wonderful World which I covered with the delicous Creamy Cocoa and White Coconut Powderpuff Ink.

Here is the chipboard luggage included with the kit. I inked it with the New Powderpuff ink called Creamy Cocoa and then with the scraps of the Gypsy Road 100 I cut from the postage stamp side little words and pictures and used ModPodge to adhere them. For the smaller piece of luggage I used the brads from the kit and wrapped two pieces of twine around them.

For the luggage tag I used the another scrap to cover it and then added a chipboard piece to it and inked the edges with Midnight Confessions ink.

Gorgeous Girls

Hello everyone, Donna Coughlin here today and we have a super fun month at Quick Quotes. We've teamed up with the fabulous Want2Scrap company, and if you never had any of their bling, you HAVE to go and get some. I used other brands of bling before, but I found Want2Scrap to be superior. I never have any problems laying it on my pages and it always looks fabulous! Look how pretty the rhinestones looks when paired with Quick Quotes paper.

My tip today is "Don't stress about distressing" I know a few of you scrappy friends are afraid to rip or distress paper, but you really cannot go wrong. Here is an example of what happened to me when doing this layout. I was distressing the edges of my paper, and I don't even now how I did this, but I tore the paper about half way down. So instead of just tossing the paper and starting over I just ripped it some more and and put it on my layout as it was (after distressing some more of course). So when scrapping gives you lemons, make lemonade! If something is ripped or a drop of glue got on your layout, embellishment it, or put another strip of paper over it. Almost always you can cover up your mistake, so don't worry so much and have fun!

I learned how to curve a title on the Silhouette today. I forget which you tube I googled, but it was super  easy. I almost always using brads in tags, but these Want2Scrap Rhinestones

are perfect!

Another beautiful swirl by Want2scrap and doesn't it look so pretty paired up with this paper line from Quick Quotes?

Petaloo and Quick Quotes blog Hop

Hi everyone, Donna Coughlin here with you to blog hop with Petaloo and Quick Quotes! I am super excited to share with you these fabulous Petaloo flowers and embellishments and Quick Quotes new line call Sheer Joy, and what better way with this beautiful picture of my granddaughter.

The frames I cut  from the Silhouette, and the outside frame I dabbed it with a little Quick Quotes Biscotti Powderpuff ink just to make it a bit darker in spots to make it pop out a little. On the chipboard pieces I also used the Powderpuff inks, and believe it or not I add some Biscotti ink to the Petaloo flowers just to soften them up a bit and make them blend in with the Quick Quotes paper better. After I dabbed the ink on the flowers I misted them with water and immediately blotter them with a paper towel just to help the blend and dry faster. Hope you enjoy this later and don't forget to go over to Petaloo and check out what their design has done.

My favorite kind of flower are burlap flowers and these are just so beautiful. The Spring Berry clusters make a perfect accent to the flowers.

Sunshine and Spring!

Happy Spring everyone! Quick Quotes has some new lines and today I used Calypso which is just filled with gorgeous flowers and spring like colors. I made this layout using the sketch below drawn by Karan Gerber, she has a sketch site called Sketchabilities and I just love how timeless her sketches are. The flower embellishments I used were raw chipboard and all I did was added color to them using Quick Quotes Powderpuff Inks, my favorite all time, go to ink!

Also here is a little tip I have for getting out all of those little pieces of paper that seem to get stuck in with your Silhoutte or Cricut.  I took a piece of duct tape, and made it a little less sticky by blotting it with a towel, then laying my die cut on the tape I took a pointy tool and pushed the little pieces through the die cut. By doing this,  all those scraps stay stuck to the tape and are not all over the place. Don't know why I didn't think of this before.

Altered Canvas

Hi everyone, today I am would like to share and altered canvas I made. Not sure if I am going to use it as a cover for a mini album, or actually adhere to the cover of  a 12x12 album.
The first thing I did was cover the canvas that I had from an older Club Q kit, with a thin coat of Gesso, I also put another layout of Gesso on it using a stone template, but in the end it doesn't show up that well, but does give it more texture, especially after I coated it with Quick Quotes Powderpuff Inks. I having been experimenting with my new love, UTEE, and will show you examples of what I came up with for this project. Here is the finished project.

For the hearts inked them with Powderpuff inks and then applied a coated of homemade mists. Around the ended a made a mixture of UTEE and Perfect Pearls, and a funny thing happened when I put my heater on it, It didn't really melt smoothly, but rather made little clumps, I am guessing that was because of the Gesso, but I really love the look.

I also put UTEE on every single letter, what a task that was, but I wanted to show you how it changes the paper. Pretty cool huh?

I hope I gave you some inspiration to go and experiment with different mediums. It really is a lot of fun, and if you mess up, just try again! You never know what you can come up.
Here is a list of products used in this project.
Other products, Gesso, UTEE, rope, homemade mist, Perfect Pearls, Stick pin.

Quick Quotes card

My anniversary will be here soon, so I made this card using Quick Quotes papers and Powderpuff inks.Speaking of inks, I am really rough with them for some reason, and today one of favorite colors, the Quick Quotes Powderpuff  inks (Baja Blue) fell out, no way was I going to throw that color away! So I went to work to fix this, see my solution below.

Products Used:
Quick Quotes Summer Breeze 100
Quick Quotes Stowaway 300
Quick Quotes Stowaway 200
Quick Quotes Dusty Road Stickers
Quick Quotes Powderpuff ink, Baja Blue
Doily
Purple Cardstock

Here is how I fixed my Powderpuff ink. First I tried glue dots but the ink pad would not stay. I wonder if a glue gun would work. Anyone try that, would be a lot easier?

I used Xyron extra strong double sided tape.

I also reversed my ink pad, and pressed down with a scrap piece of paper. I tried using it the next day, and the ink pad stayed in great!

Happy Valentines Day!

Happy Valentine's Day! Donna here to share a post of two people I love, my daughter and granddaughter. Today I used Quick Quotes Cherry Truffle paper to create this layout. I cut out two hearts and place on of them upside, and found a lacy heart doily in my stash which I knew I had to use. Doilies are being used a lot on layouts and cards, what is your opinion of them? I personally love them and the great thing is there are so many designs to cut out on your die cutting machine. The iron gate near the bottom is also from Quick Quotes, did you know they had chipboard shapes?  Check it out here! I took mine and just inked it up with the Powderpuff Inks from Quick Quotes.

Here is a closeup of the title. I wanted to share you with you a little tip I like to use, and it is so simple, but effective. On this title I used 6 different fonts that I downloaded free from the internet. Even with  chipboard and sticker alphabets I mix colors and types. The fonts I used here in order are, Marquette, Raavi, Bernand MT Condensed, Showcard Gothic, Marketing Script, and Jan Brady.
How do pick the font?

HAPPY 2014!

Happy New Year! Donna Coughlin here to wish you all the best this year and I am excited to spend it here with Quick Quotes. Our new design team includes some returning members and we added a few new wonderful girls and this year and we will have some exciting challenges and awesome creations just for you in the upcoming year. Today I made this layout to celebrate the new year. One tradition we do every new year is no matter what the weather is, the kids go outside and run around just after midnight, bang pots and pans, and if we are lucky and they have snow they have a snowball fight!
For this layout I used a combination of 3 of my favorite lines from last year by Quick Quotes, Be Bold, Happiness and Pattern Perfect! The title work I cut the words out from my Cricut, and the numbers I used round pieces of chipboard covered with papers from the Be Bold 6x6 pad and placed a black number on top. I thought it would be cool to add the months and I happen to run across an unused calendar I received last year, I tried to make it look like I was tearing of 2012 and revealing 2013 Finally, what is New Years without some bling!

So Grateful

Hi everyone, Happy Thanksgiving and thanks for stopping by today. I made this layout because I am so grateful for my family, and this beauty is my granddaughter. The Quick Quotes Family Bundle pack had this quote in it that says " There is nothing on this earth that touches my heart more than your beautiful smile! Your eyes sparkle and your whole face lights up and it makes the whole world smile." That describes her perfectly! To make this layout I used the new line from Quick Quotes called Back to Basics. The pumpkin and the leaf from an old Quick Quotes Club Q kit. The leaf cluster were from a pack of leaves I picked up at the Flower Warehouse, and I strung a few wood buttons to make a kind of banner under the pumpkin.

The wood buttons I made three different ways, though the barely see the difference, up close they do show up differently. On all of them I used Quick Quotes Powderpuff Ink and Gold rub. My favorite is next to the letter L in the title, where I dabbed the gold rub in the center and brushed the ink around the edges but leaving some of the wood show.

Products Used
Viva Inka Gold Metallic Rub
Wood buttons
leaves
Momenta alphabet
Misc embellishments

Hope you have a wonderful holiday and before you know it the winter holidays will be here!

Princess

I had another fun day working with Quick Quotes and Want2Scrap. On this layout of my beautiful granddaughter I used the new Dusty Road paper line and lots of bling from Want2Scrap. The fun thing about bling is you can mix all different kinds and use it many ways. I used to create a border, embellish paper and add to the center of flowers, and embellish chipboard!

I love adding little details to my layout, and with clusters of flowers just a few little things really make a difference. The charm is a Hallmark Christmas mini ornament, and a minature seed package gives it that little extra touch. And of course you gotta love the new mother of pearl bling from Want2Scrap, they looks so pretty inside a flower.

China layout using Quick Quotes April Kit

When I got these fabulous Quick Quotes kits for April, I immediately knew these colors would be great for pictures I took in China at Disney. Here I made this double page layout using materials from two of the kits. I really love the vines that were in the kit, they really add elegance.
For this layout I took the big die cut paper and backed it with the green and maroon paper from the kits, then Icut it down the center. The letter I cut on my Cricut using leftover paper from the kit.
I also used a quote from the 6x6 Dusty Road Paper Pack from Quick Quotes.

The butterflies were trimmed from the velumn pieces included in the Club Q Option A kit.

The flowers I used Quick Quotes Powderpuff Tahiti ink to give a little color. Aren't those brads very elegant. I love the way they look in the center of the flower. The vine can be cut into smaller pieces as I did here.
